Siamese Fighting Fish Care Sheet Fighting fish are a temperate fish, originating from Asia. They are usually found in small puddles, run offs and throughout the hot, humid, shallow rice paddies. They are a Labyrinth fish, meaning that they have the ability to breathe oxygen from the atmosphere. Fighting fish are also species aggressive, so the males especially cannot live together! They also tend to get picked on by other fish, so they are better off living alone.
Ideal temperature is between 16 and 28c pH should be 7.0 and 7.4 G.H should be 50 - 200ppm They do not like any ammonia, nitrite or nitrate in their water. When you get your fighting fish home, prepare its new home by rinsing out the container and any substrate in cold tap water. Prepare the water. It should be at room temperature. The amount of water ager and water conditioner will depend on the size of your tank. Check the packaging of your ager/conditioner or ask one of the Rayonne team for the correct amounts. Gently add your fish to its new home. Maintenance Fighting fish should have at least a half water change a week. Two if it is been kept in a small area. Always prepare the new water and make sure it is at room temperature. Use conditioners at half the rate of when you initially set it up. If you are in doubt, bring some water in for a FREE water test. Feeding Fighting fish can eat floating pellets and sometimes flakes or dried blackworms. Only feed them once a day, one to four pellets. Remove any uneaten food after they are done eating. REMEMBER!!! Keep fighting fish warm!! Lamps or heating pads are available for colder areas, just ask us!! HAPPY FISH KEEPING!! |
