Goldfish bowl / tank Care Sheet

Goldfish can be kept in either cold or warm water. They can be kept in a bowl, tank or pond. Keep them out of direct sunlight as this will over heat them and cause excessive algae. They are a fairly dirty fish so they need regular cleaning. Goldfish can easily be kept in groups of the same kind depending on the area they will be living in. They are vegetarian so any live plants that are placed in with them will be eaten. This is a great treat for them. Heartier pond plants will be left alone, just make sure they are potted in gravel, not dirt.

Temperature - 5 - 26 C

PH - 7.0 - 7.6

GH - 150 - 200ppm

They do not like any ammonia nitrite or high nitrates.

Goldfish homes should be prepared prior to taking fish home for best results.

Get the tank or bowl ready at least 3-4 days earlier, 1 week is optimal.

The amount of water ager and water conditioner will depend on the size of your tank. Check the packaging of your ager/conditioner or ask one of the Rayonne team for the correct amounts.

After the fish tank is ready, gently acclimatize your fish by floating the bag of fish on top of the water for 5 minutes, then release fish.

Do not feed for 2 days after introducing fish.

Maintenance

Depending on the size of the area, goldfish need at least 2, ½ water changes per week. (1 if it is well filtered)

Always prepare the new water. Use conditioners at ½ the rate of when you first set it up.

If you are in doubt, please bring some water in for a free water test.

Feeding

Goldfish eat pellets, flakes and frozen foods like brine shrimp or bloodworms.

Feed only once every 2-3 days. They only need a pellet or flake per fish per feed. Clean up any uneaten food when they are done.

Goldfish will also eat raw or frozen peas or corn. It makes a great weekly treat!!
